How I got rid of my acne scars with The Ordinary's Mandelic Acid + HA product

I have used the product for a month now – 30ml and I must say that it has done wonders for my skin that no other product has been able to do in such a short span of time.

I had watched numerous videos by well-known influencers on how they got rid of their bad acne scars and I tried whatever they recommended from baby rash creams which contain Zinc that is supposedly good for your acne, to applying pineapple juice on my skin, ginger juice on my skin, snail gel on my skin, etc. Most of it didn’t work and it just made my acne come back and made the scars worse. Then I realized that the anti-acne and anti- acne scar products that you should be applying on your skin should be basis your skin type which is why most of my posts talk about products for your skin type. Again please use products meant for your skin type. For instance glycolic acid and salicylic acid don’t go well with my skin because I have dry sensitive skin.

I cannot emphasis the importance of using products meant for your skin type. When I was researching about acids I wasn’t too sure the kind of effect it would have on my skin, but the important fact the I learned was to use products based on your skin type. Because I was using the wrong products my acne took longer to heal.

So when I initially bought this product I would just use it every alternate evening on my skin followed by bio oil as a moisturizer and on days that I was not using it I would use Vitamin C on my skin. But then about 5 days later I noticed that my skin was darkening due to the pigmentation. This is despite using sunscreen and only using the treatments in the evening. So mixing treatments is not advisable and if you have sensitive skin like me then you should only switch your treatments every alternate week. Which is what I have started doing. Additionally I have also limited the number of times I use Mandelic acid in a week, keeping it to twice and week. You can see my progress in the images I have shared.

The Ordinary’s Mandelic acid with HA is definitely good for dry sensitive skin since it contains hyaluronic acid which doesn’t dry your skin further and mandelic acid not only removes acne scars but also prevents new acne from coming.
