How to know your skin type?

Most of us use products on our face without first knowing the first step before using any product is to understand our skin type. Sometimes we think we know what skin type we are but then we have it all wrong because we have not done a proper skin test.

So how does one properly check which skin type they have, you ask? Well, you will need approx 2 hours for this, so make sure you don't have to step out of the house or meet any guests at your house when you are doing this. Once you have the when figured out let's move to the how. You start by first washing your face with your usual cleanser, pat it dry and leave for about an hour. This means no applying makeup, moisturizer, face mists, sunscreen, nothing! Once you have done this examine your skin with your mirror after an hour or so. But you have to do this after an hour and during this time make sure to not touch your skin or to wipe it with anything. For better result wait for 2 hours.

Once the wait is over...

  • If your skin feels flaky and uncomfortable, especially around the eyebrows, mouth and nose, it means you have Dry Skin.

  • If your skin looks dull, feels tight and may seem wrinkled in places you don't remember having wrinkles. This means you have Dehydrated Skin. In fact to double check this you should pinch your cheeks and if it doesn't hold it's shape it means your skin is very desperate for water.

  • If your skin reacts badly to a lot of products often causing breakouts or dry skin. It becomes red, itchy, irritated or hot when you touch, it means you have Sensitive Skin.

  • If your skin looks oily all over, it means you have Oily Skin.

  • If you have oil in some places and some place it feels uncomfortable and tight. Then it probably means you have Combination Skin.

  • If your skin is oily, dry or combination but covered in acne then it means you have Acne-Prone Skin.
